The Windward Islands Under 15 Cricket team bounced back after going down to Barbados in their previous match to record an impressive eight wicket victory over Jamaica as the WICB – CWI Regional Under 15 Fifty over Cricket Tournament continued in Barbados.Jamaica after winning the toss was dismissed for 133 in40.1 overs with Sanjay Walker making 35, Jordan Johnson 27 and Shamer Phillips 21.
The main wicket takers for the Windwards were off spinner Kervyn Gangadeen 3 for 25 in ten overs, Udell Preville 2 for 16 in five overs, seamer Tyran Theodore 2 for 26 in five overs, leg spinner Ackeem Auguste 1 for 14 in 5.1 overs and skipper Keygan Arnold 1 for 23 in ten overs.In reply a wonderful second wicket century partnership of 110 runs between left handers Ackeem Auguste and O J Mathews ensured victory for the Windward Islands as they finished on 134 for 2 In 41.1 overs.
Ackeem Auguste led the batting with a delightful half century with a classy 62 laced with 7 fours. Opening batsman OJ Mathews batted intelligently remaining unbeaten on 42 with vice captain Teddy Bishop contributing an unbeaten 12.The Windwards next match is against Guyana which bowls off on Monday 31st July 2017.
In other games Guyana defeated Trinidad and Tobago by seven runs. Guyana 133 off 49.4 overs, Trinidad and Tobago 126 off 49.3 overs.Barbados won over Leeward Islands by thirty five runs. Batting first Barbados made 192 for seven off 50 overs. They then dismissed Leeward Islands for 157 off 44 overs.
