The 2016 Vizions Super League got on the way on Saturday 16th May at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Ground. In the first encounter, at 6pm, Anse-La-Raye and Dennery Played to a 1-all draw. In the first game played on Sunday 17th, Mon Repos and Vieux-Fort North played to a one-all draw, while home team Vieux-Fort south defeated Laborie 3 goals to nil… Now in the second encounter played on opening night Grenada’s Super League Champions Paradise FC came up against St. Lucia’s defending Champions Gros-Islet. Gros-Islet and National Striker Troy Greenidge found the back of the net in the 13th minute to go ahead in a first half dominated by the team from St. Lucia. From the onset the Grenadian team seemed to have lacked imagination and ability in the final third and seemed to have focused on decisions made by referee Leo Clarke….In the second half however, Paradise came in with a more aggressive MO, creating a couple of half chances. Gros-Islet would however seal victory in this matchup as National Mid-Fielder and former Central Castries Player Romiel Felix provided a brilliant cross to Troy Greenidge who finished in exquisite fashion. Gros-Islet for their troubles walked away with a cool $5000 and are perhaps strong favorites to win the tournament proper.
