Under – 19 Schools Cricket Tournament

The 2016 Massy United Insurance Under-19 Schools Cricket Tournament has reached the quarter-final knockout stage with the two top teams from each of the five groups advancing.

Group A was headed by Piaye Secondary who tied on points (8) with Vieux Fort Comprehensive La Ressource and Choiseul Secondary, but prevailed by having a superior net run rate in the group stage. The 2nd place team was Vieux Fort Comprehensive followed by Choiseul Secondary and in the cellar position was last year’s champion, Soufriere Comprehensive with 0 points.

Group B was led by Grande Riviere Secondary who played unbeaten in the group stage of the tournament, finishing on a maximum 12 points, followed by Micoud Secondary on 5 points, Clendon Mason Memorial on 4 points and  Anse Ger Secondary at the bottom with 1 point.

Group C was topped by Castries Comprehensive Secondary who has played unbeaten so far, accumulating a maximum of 16 points. Sir Arthur Lewis Community College placed 2nd with 12 points, followed by Entrepot Secondary on 8 points, Gros Islet Secondary on 4 points and George Charles Secondary with 0 points.

Group D’s winner was St Mary’s College with 12 points, SDA Academy 2nd with 12 points, followed by Jon Odlum Secondary on 8 points and Sir Ira Simmons and Vide Bouteille Secondary with 4 points each.

Group E was dominated by Babonneau Secondary who won all their games finishing on a maximum of 16 points.  The 2nd place team was Leon Hess Comprehensive with 12 points, followed by Corinth Secondary with 9 points, Ciceron Secondary with 5 points and the much improved CARE with 0.

The quarter-final match-ups are as follows:

1.  Piaye Secondary vs Micoud Secondary………………….. @ Piaye

2.  Grande Riviere Secondary vs Leon Hess  Comprehensive……….. @ Dennery

3.  Castries Comprehensive vs SDA ………… @ Monchy

4.  SMC vs Vieux Fort Comprehensive …. @ La Resource.

5.  Babonneau Secondary vs Sir Arthur ……………………… .@Gros Islet
