The Jamaica Tallawahs defeated the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 41 runs as action in the 2017 Hero Caribbean Premier League continued on Wednesday night. In the match promoted as Chris Gayle’s return to Sabina Park in Jamaica, St. Kitts won the toss and decided to take the field. In their innings, Captain Kumar Sangakara registered his third consecutive half century in this years tournament, as his innings of 69 of 55 deliveries pushed Jamaica to the competitive total of 157/5 in 20 overs. Rovman Powell also contributed a well played 43 off just 26 balls.
In response, 20 year old O Shane Thomas bowled with absolutely blistering paste to rip through the Jamaican top order. Thomas finished with match winning figures of 3/31 in 4 overs as St. Kitts tumbled to 116 all out in 17.5 overs. For Jamaica Evin Lewis top scored with a quick fire 40 from just 17 deliveries. Santokie was excellent as he picked up 3/ 10 in 3.5 overs. For his efforts with the ball O Shane Thomas was adjudged man of the match.
As a result, Jamaica officially qualified for the play offs moving to second place on the table with 12 points, while St. Kitts move to 3rd place with 11 points…Saint Lucia Stars play their final game on Thursday night against the Barbados Tridents from 8pm on HTS
