Who will win the 2018 World Cup? The highly anticipated draw for the 2018 Football World Cup was held earlier today. After the draw a number of sports pundits have weighed in on their impressions on the various groups. Neighbors Spain and Portugal will meet at next year’s FIFA World Cup after being drawn in the same group during Friday’s draw in Moscow. Champions Germany are in Group F with Mexico, Sweden and South Korea. The opening game of the World Cup will see hosts Russia take on Saudi Arabia in Group A on Thursday, 14 June.
This version of the draw has provided varying opinions on the actual group of death. This is due to the fact that a group of death should have at least three major contenders out of the four teams, since only two from each group will qualify for the round of 16. In this year’s draw, most of the groups seem to only have two. Football is played on the day, as we have seen in previous world cups, anything can happen.
Which group would you consider to be the group of death?
Group A: Egypt, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Uruguay
Group B: Iran, Morocco, Portugal, Spain
Group C: Australia, Denmark, France, Peru
Group D: Argentina, Croatia, Iceland, Nigeria
Group E: Brazil, Costa Rica, Serbia, Switzerland
Group F: Germany, Mexico, South Korea, Sweden
Group G: Belgium, England, Panama, Tunisia
Group H: Colombia, Japan, Poland, Senegal
