The Saint Lucia Premier League T20 tournament continued on Saturday evening, in front of a good crowd at the Soufriere Mini Stadium. In the second game of the night, the Micoud Trailblazers took on the South Castries Lions. For many, South Castries may be one of the teams to look out for in this inaugural competition.
Batting first, the Trailblazers got to the modest total of 137/9 in 20 overs. Richard Peter top scored with a patient 40 from 37 deliveries, while Cyrille Charles and Shervin Charles contributed 23 and 21 respectively. For the Lions, Kester Charlemange was the pick of the bowlers taking 3/23 in his 4 overs. Millan David also did well with the ball, picking up 2/28 in four overs.
In response, Dwight Thomas was stranded by his teammates as the Lions were bowled out for 130 in an appalling run chase.Thomas amassed 41 from 49 deliveries, hitting 2 sixes and 2 fours. West Indies opening batsman Johnson Charles and Cornilus Calendar both contributed 24 runs. For Micoud, Hayzel Charlery was the chief destroyer, picking up 4/29 in his 4 overs. He was ably assisted by Kervin Augustin who picked up 2/14.
In the end, the Lions were bowled out living 8 balls in the innings to get 7 runs. As such, The Micoud Trailblazers registered an impressive victory, winning by 7 runs.
