The final of the 2017- 2018 Caribbean Alliance Veterans Football Tournament got on the way on Saturday night.
In the match being played at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds, former champions Soufriere took on first time finalists Gros-Islet Veterans.
Early into this encounter Gros Islet took the lead thanks to a clinical finish from Roger Celestin.
Gros- Islet would go down to ten men, and Soufriere would equalize when Phillip Francois found the back of the net. As a result, both teams went into the locker room tied at 1-1.
The second half saw both teams playing attractive football. However, no goals were scored which left the game tied at the end of regulation time.
In the second period of extra time Soufriere would find the back of the net in a fortuitious fashion when the Gros Islet custodian totally missed the ball.
As a result, Dorville Edward got the winning goal for Soufriere who won 2-1.
