Schools Under 15 Cricket tournament

The Department of Youth Development and Sports 2017 Secondary Schools Under 15 Cricket tournament, continued on Tuesday, May 30th with the staging of three matches. Victories were registered for Vide Bouteille Secondary over Gros Islet Secondary, Beanfield Comprehensive over Soufriere Comprehensive and Micoud Secondary over Jon Odlum / George Charles Secondary in yet another round of matches dominated by bowlers.

At the Gros Islet Playing Field, Vide Bouteille Secondary defeated Gros Islet Secondary by eight wickets. Gros Islet batting first was dismissed for 76 in 17 overs.Bowling for Vide Bouteille Secondary right arm off spinner Levon Dupres bagged 5 for 7 in 3 overs, inclusive of a hat trick – fourth in the tournament and Thomas Fields 2 for 24 in 2 overs.In reply, Vide Bouteille easily overhauled the target as they finished on 77 for 2 in 7.4 overs with Levon Dupres making 30 and Jaedy Francois 17. For Gros Islet the lone wicket taker was Jeanni Clercin 2 for 31 in 4 overs.

Over at the Piaye Playing Field Beanfield Comprehensive defeated Soufriere Comprehensive by 108 runs.Beanfield batting first made 162 all out in 28.5 overs with Chad Matial scoring a well played 59, with 21 coming from the bat of Cuthbert Hippolyte,The main wicket takers for Soufriere were D’Andre Nestor 3 for 15 in 4.5 overs, Kayes Desir 2 for 17 in 5 overs and Rickie William 2 for 30 in 5 overs.In reply, Soufriere Comprehensive was skittled out for 54 in 4.5 overs as D’Andre Nestor was the only one to reach double figures scoring 11 runs.For Beanfield Quammi Deshong 3 for 9 in 3 overs, Urius Constantine 3 for 11 in 4 overs and Chad Matial 2 for 8 in 5 overs.

Meanwhile, at the Dennery Playing Field, Micoud Secondary defeated Jon Odlum/George Charles Secondary by 7 wickets.Taking first knock the Combined School was dismissed for 51 in 11.5 overs. Micoud bowling attack was led by medium pacer Brandt Edward with the impressive figures of six for 8 in 3 overs and Dichege Henry 2 for 10 in 4 overs.In reply Neon Deterville  with an unbeaten 24 and Keon Gaston 10 secured victory for Micoud as they closed on 52 for the loss of three wickets.Jevon Etienne was the most successful bowler for the combination of Jon Odlum/ George Charles with figures of 2 for 9 in 1 over.

Only one match is scheduled for Wednesday May 31st with Babonneau Secondary coming up against Corinth Secondary at the Gros Islet Playing Field.
