The Mon Repos Eastern Cooperative Credit Union T20 Cricket Tournament commenced with four fixtured matches over the weekend of May 27 & 28, 2017. The Wenn Playing field was treated to an exciting first match which eventually got stopped by rain; but it was not before Patience Youth Organization (PYO) posted a mammoth 217 for 5 wickets against a strong Micoud team. The main contributors for PYO were Shervin Charles 66, Dasius Joseph 51 (the 1st fifty of the tournament) and Gracious Descartes 29. In the second match of the day, La Pointe 4H took on Dugard in a 15 over battle. Dugard was boosted with the presence of Daren Sammy. However, La Pointe 4H amassed 143 for 3, due largely to 51 not out from Murguran Joseph and 49 not out from Hayzel Charlery. For Dugard, Murlan Sammy had 3 for 30 and Travis Gifford took 1 for 24. Dugard replied with 118 for 8 in their 15 overs. Batting for Dugard Travis Gifford & Hezron Joseph scored 28 each, and Lance Sammy scored 26.
