Massy Stores Northern United in collaboration with the Castries Football Council (CFC) and the Northern Zone administrative zone of the Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) have launched a club tournament in an attempt to provide opportunities for clubs in the north of the island to compete against each other. The theme of the inaugural tournament is Setting the Foundation.
The tournament which is being called the Northern Zone Club Championship will feature the top clubs from Gros Islet, Marchand, Babonneau, South Castries, La Clery, Roseau Valley. The participating clubs include Massy Stores Northern United, Dominators, GMC, FC Pioneers, NYAH FC, VSADC, Boguis FC, RV Juniors, Big Players, Flames, LA All Stars and Ciceron Seagulls. The clubs will be vying for the first prize of $4,000.00 plus trophies, medals and individual awards.
The teams will be placed in two groups of six and will engage in a round robin format in the first round. The top four teams from each group will then qualify for the single match knockout stages. The tournament is expected to be keenly contested as former SLFA Premier League champions VSADC, Massy Stores Northern United and Big Players will renew rivalries which were interrupted following the disbandment of the former national Premier League.

The tournament kicks off on Sunday August 7th with a brief opening ceremony at the Gros Islet playing field from 3:00 pm. This will be followed by a double header, in the first match at 4:00 pm Marchand champions Big Players will face the champions of Babonneau Boguis FC. In the second match La Clery champions LA All Stars will take on the Gros Islet champions Massy Stores Northern United from 6:00 pm.
Matches in the tournament will be played at the Marchand and Gros Islet playing fields and the SAB sporting facility on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
