KIA NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE TENNIS TOURNAMENT

The KIA National Independence Tennis Tournament sponsored by Northwest Limited, Co-sponsored by Harry Edwards Jewelers and Peter & Company Distribution (Lucozade & PineHill) had an early start on as we saw the elite top ranked players meeting in the semi-final round of competition.

Orlando Augustin and Corey Charles had an early start on court in the boys 12s semi-final in what seemed to be a very relaxed match for Augustin winning in straight sets securing him a spot in the final.

Vying for the 12 & under singles championship #1 ranked national player Arden Rosemond and Saige Charlemagne went head to head in the semi-final round of play. Rosemond was able to keep it together and in straight sets he placed himself in the final to play Orlando Augustin.

In the Main draw of the boys 14s category Aidan Bousquet very outstanding and skillful player defeated Yadhu Urs in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Bousquet has not dropped a set in this entire tournament.Joey Angeloni defeated Arden Rosemond in straight sets securing. Angeloni will be facing Bousquet in the boys 14s semi-final.

Maxx William another outstanding junior player entered the men’s singles open.  William only thirteen years old coached by Vernon Lewis has faced older and more experienced players than him.  This time around the young and powerful defeated the aged and experience. William faced Clent Mitchel from the Southern Amateur Tennis Club defeating him in straight sets. Mitchel one of our very elite had a slow start at the beginning of the match allowing William to take advantage of this opportunity.  The second set was tougher for William, it went to a tiebreaker but, William kept his exposure winning in straight sets.

In the girls 18 & under category Dara Sidoine defeated Navit Isaac 4-0, 4-0.
