Johnson Charles Century Sends Rangpur into BPL Final

Chris Gayle only managed three but his opening partner, Johnson Charles slammed an unbeaten 105 to send the Rangpur Riders into the final of the Bangladesh Premier League. The innings helped the Riders to 192-3 against the Comilla Victorians, who could only manage 156 in their reply, giving the finalists a 36-run victory.Charles, 105 not out, partnered with former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum to hammer 151 from 14.5 overs before McCullum fell to Hasan Ali for 78 from just 46 deliveries.Charles was savage, slamming nine fours and seven sixes on his way to the century, which came from just 63 deliveries.

Chasing the 193 the Riders had set was never going to be an easy task, and though Tamim Iqbal (36) and Liton Das (39) gave them reasonable starts they were always behind.Marlon Samuels was not up for the game and fell for 27 from 30 deliveries having hit just two fours and a six.Only Jos Butler, 26 from 16, put up any kind of fight outside of that, as Rubel Hossain, 3-34, Isuru Udana, 2-24, and Ravi Bopara, 2-17, kept them behind the eight ball.Sohag Gazi, 1-15, Mashrafe Mortaza, a little expensive at 1-40, and Nazmul Islam, 1-25, also supported well.
