Inter-Special Ed Table Tennis Championships

The Ministry of Youth Development & Sports and the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the National Table Tennis Association hosted the 2016 Inaugural Inter-Special Ed Table Tennis Championships, on Friday 24th June 2016, at the Beausejour Indoor Facility. Six schools participated in the Championships namely: Dunnottar School,  Edu Care Learning Centre, Lady Gordon Opportunity Centre, Dennery Children Centre Special Ed, Vieux-Fort Special Education Centre and Soufriere Special Education Rehabilitation Centre.  Neville Darcie and Keisha Biscette dominated the boys and girls open singles event. The girls’ event saw 6 girls competing: The first semi-final match saw Keisha Biscette winning over Verna Fields 11-3. The second semi-final match saw Shanice Stewart defeating Solange Leblanc 11-7. The finals witnessed the consistent forehand specialist Keisha Biscette wining in straight sets over Shanice Stewart 11-7, 12-10 to win the singles championships…. The boys’ event saw 32 boys competing: In the quarter finals, Danny Billy defeated Jakim Griffith 11-7; Keon Augustin lost to Dante Altenor 6-11; Chaddy Herman won over Stanly George 11-7 and Neville Darcie conquered Sean Vegee 11-0. The first semi-final match was won by Dante Altenor who edged out Danny Billy 12-10. The second semi-final match saw Neville Darcie winning over Chaddy Herman 11-8. In the finals Dante Altenor put early pressure on Neville Darcie to win the first game 11-7. Neville then responded to win the second game 11- 8. The final set saw Neville defeating Dante 11-4… The event culminated with the presentation of medals and participation certificates.
