St Kitts and Nevis captain Chris Gayle has expressed delight with delivering on the promise of bringing success to the franchise after sealing a high-profile move from the Jamaica Tallawahs this summer. The big left-hander made plenty of headlines with a move away from his Jamaican home base, where the team had just earned a second Caribbean Premier League (CPL) title. His new team the Patriots had finished at the bottom of the table in two prior seasons, earning a meagre total of just 6 wins in that period.
Things have, however, completely turned around for Patriots since the introduction of Gayle and several other players. On Tuesday, with a convincing 38-runs win over top of the table Trinbago Knight Riders the team sealed its first ever appearance in a CPL final, adding to the accomplishment of making a first ever playoff last week.
“I’m just excited to be in another final again, to be honest with you to actually take a team from nothing to something,” Gayle said. “It’s a great achievement for me already no matter what happens in the final.”
