Ten nations and hosts Saint Lucia are gearing for intense competition as the Creole Invitational Boxing championships gets closer to bell time.
Saint Lucia is expected to enter a strong contingent of 17 boxers headlined by Lyndell Marcellin and Nathan Ferrari while the other competing nations French Guyana, Guadeloupe, Martinique Dominica, Haiti, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Maarten and Trinidad and Tobago have promised to be coming all out to make an impression in this year’s ninth edition of the competition.
Teams will begin arriving on July 5 and the actual nights of competition will be July 6,7, and 8 at the Beausejour Indoor Facility.
” We are very pleased with the way things have been shaping up and all countries coming to saint Lucia say they are in a serious mood to lift the trophy. We will be making every effort to prepare our team as best as we can despite the fact that our gym is under major renovations and have been limited to the facilities at the Vigie Complex, ” President of the Saint Lucia Boxing Association Davis Christopher said.
“It is very important that we continue to get assistance so we can realise our dream of having a brand new facility . If we do so so we can train our young upcoming boxers and carry on with our development programme , ” he added.
