The Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi has been cleared to host a World Twenty20 semi-final match.

There had been concerns from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) being forced to not sell tickets for the RP Mehra Block of the stadium, which holds nearly 1,800 seats.

Other World T20 matches held at the venue so far have seen the block, which the DDCA  does not have a completion certificate for, left empty following restrictions put in place by the Delhi High Court.

The ICC had been worried about the prospect of playing matches in front of empty stands from a broadcast perspective.

But talk of moving the March 30 last-four clash to another venue can now come to an end after the DDCA received clearance form supreme-court appointed observer Justice Mukul Mudgal to use the stand.

“The DDCA stands have been cleared till 2017. Not only this match but all the IPL matches will go ahead as planned,” a DDCA official told the Press Trust of India.

“Decks were cleared after Justice Mudgal was convinced that there would no legal problem in holding the matches.”
