The finals of the SLNCA Division 1 Two Day Competition was played at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th November, between Central Castries and South Castries.Taking first knock South Castries were bowled out for 159 in 34 overs, with their main ciontributors being Xavier Gabriel 43, Kester Charlemagne 26 and Malcolm Monrose 21.Bowling for Central, Loic Prospere captured3 for 28 and Jemmi Mauricette 2 for 39.
In reply Central Castries stumbled to a one run lead after being dismissed for 160 runs in 40 overs. Their innings was built around Jemmi Mauricette’s 27, Jamaal James 21 and Johnnel Eugene also making 21.The pick of the bowlers for South Castries were XavierGabriel 6 for 46 and Kester Charlemagne 3 for 38.Batting a second time, South Castries declared on 145 for 7, with Alex Antoine top scoring with 75 runs. Kester Charlemagne chipped in with 25. Dillan John 3 for 51 and Rahym Joseph 2 for 18 were the successful bowlers for Central Castries.
Chasing 145 for victory Central Castries looked set for victory at 94 for 2 off 23.3 overs, before rain brought the proceedings to a halt in the final hour of the day. Jamal James made 39 and Stephen Naitram 36.Daniel Jn. Baptiste was the pick of the bowlers for South Castries with 2 for 13.The ensuing result meant that Central Castries won by virtue of their first innings margin.
