Blackheart 2017: Who Will Win this Weekend?

The 2017 blackheart Knockout tournament is only one day away. On Saturday, former three time champions Dennery will take on Central Castries in the season opener. Central Castries have been counted out by most sports pundits this year. However, this team has relished the opportunity to fly under the radar in times past. The Sean Kirton coached team always seem to creep into the final four in major competitions. Having made the final before, Central will be looking to upset teams in this year’s competition.

However, much is expected from Dennery this year. Since reaching the final two years ago, Dennery has failed to have any impact in local competitions. With Ridel Stanislaus up front and Sabbatus Hunte in the back, the three time champs will be looking to burry opponents and become the first four time winners of this championships. This opening game is schedule to kick off at 6:30 pm at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds.
In the second game on the evening, former champions Canaries will do battle against Mon Repos. Mon Repos has made it beyond the first round in this competition in times past. Yet, no one has given them any chance of standing close to “the best from the west.” Canaries has a lot to prove in this year’s competition! The most consistent team in blackheart’s history has only lifted the title once! Can they do it again?

Sunday September 17th, brings about two mouth-watering encounters. No one has selected the Mabouya Valley to go beyond the second round this year. In this Valley derby, they take on a Roseau Valley team that has not had any success to speak of in the tournament. In this match up at 6:30, prolific striker Vernon Abbot may kick things started with the first hatric of this year’s tournament. Bolo, as he is affectionately known, will definitely be going all out to send a message to other teams in this year’s competition.

If I was asked which game I wanted to see in the first round of this year’s Blackheart competition, it would have been Vieux fort South taking on Vieux Fort North. There is no doubt that the southernmost team in the district has had more success in recent times. Yet, in this highly anticipated clash, one wonders if the pose from Grace is tired of playing second fiddle. One wonders if Sheldon Emmanuel and the guys says enough is enough! One wonders if there is a major upset in the making.

So, who will win this weekends games? In Blackheart football, your guess may be as good as mine! Blackheart 2017 is finally here! Start it!
