The 2017 SLFA/Blackheart Knockout tournament has moved to Sulphur City. On the final night of the first round two former finalist are in battle for a quarter final berth in this highly competitive tournament. In this encounter, Marchand drew first blood against Babonneau thanks to a strike from Andres Remy in the 14th minute.
Babonneau would draw level 8 minutes later, thanks to a clinically taken spot kick from Nehemiah Wilfred.
Four minutes later, last year’s finalist would again take the lead thanks to a calm finish from Valdez Maximin!
The absence of charismatic leader Alex Joseph was certainly felt by the Babonneau team. Marchand would take no prisoners in this one as Valdez Maximin would bury his free-kick through the hands of substitute keeper Tristan Pierre.
Babonneau would find the back of the net again through a a set piece. Nehemiah Wilfred would find the back of the net as veteran keeper Abraham Mentor failed to deal with the shot from on top of the eighteen yard box.
At the final whistle, Marchand won this encounter 3-2. Marchand will now take on Micoud in the quarter final of this year’s event!
