Blackheart 2017 : A David Henry Brace Take Canaries to Quarter Final!

The 2017 SLFA/Blackheart Knockout Tournament continued on Saturday evening with the second game of this year’s championships. In the match played at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort, former champions Canaries came up against Mon Repos. In this match up, the best from the west dominated early proceedings against the team from the east.

In the 18th minute Canaries went ahead thanks to a walk in goal by prolific striker David Henry. Henry would make it two nil with a brilliant strike just on top the eighteen yard box! At half time it was 2-nil in favour of Canaries.

Canaries would continue to apply pressure in the hopes of finding more goals in the second half. However, Mon Repos would have a better showing in the second 45 minutes despite some half chances created by Canaries.

In the end, Canaries had to settle for a place in the quarter final of this year’s event with a two-nil victory over Mon Repos. Canaries now plays the winner of Mabouya Valley verses Roseau Valley, while, Central Castries awaits the winner of the contest between Gros-Islet and Soufriere.!
