The Big Players Football Club’s Fourth Annual Fun Walk is scheduled for Sunday September 24th 2017. The walk will commence at 6.30 am at the Marchand Grounds.Persons from the community, schools, sports clubs, and the general public are expected to participate in this scenic event. The Walk was first organized in 2014 as a means of encouraging people in the community to appreciate and embrace sports, exercise and fitness as a way of life.
The route for the walk is the same as previous years – from the Marchand Playing Field – through Bocage, Tiroche, Trois Piton, Old Victoria Road, Pavee, down Rock Hall and back to Manchard. The pre walk briefing and cool down exercise will be conducted by Sensei Oliver Lawrence.The Walk is a challenging and invigorating one which will offer participants the opportunity to enjoy the fresh morning breeze and the breathtaking views while walking through Bocage, Ti Roche, Trois Piton and Old Victorisa road.
The Marchand Health centre and the Ministry of Health will conduct a health fair following the conclusion of the Walk. This will take the form od dissemination of information; blood sugar, blood pressure HIV and eye testing as well as the provision of counseling. Over the years that aspect of the Walk has been very well supported with many people grasping the opportunity to conduct their personal health checks.Registration is ongoing and there will be mass registration on Saturday 23rd September and on Sunday 24th September, prior to the Walk.
Participants will be afforded the opportunity to win lots of prizes. Some of which are as follows.
- First, Second and Third Place winners
- Youngest Male and Female Finisher
- Oldest Male and Female Finisher
- Awarding of Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals to the first thirty finishers, in addition to sponsored products.
There will be lots of fun and excitement after the Walk and the general public is invited to come out in large numbers to support this grand affair.
