The St. Lucia Olympic Committee Incorporated, in collaboration with the Department of Education, Innovation and Gender Relations, the Department of Youth Development and Sports and the Ministry of Health will be observing the occasion with a walk on October 9, 2016.
World Walking Day is a worldwide annual event which seeks to encourage participation in physical activity. The activity starts at the Vigie Playing Field at 6:30 am.
Walkers will head up the John Compton Highway, left at the Vigie Roundabout, into Mandela Drive, up the hill and around the Vigie Peninsula, and back to the Vigie Playing Field.
Following the walk, there will be physical activities to engage participants until 10:00 am. There is no registration fee for the event and a snack will be provided for participants after the walk.
