An Eden “Eve” Charles Brace Secures Victory For Northern United!

National Striker Eden “Eve” Charles scored twice on Wednesday night, as action in the SLFA Division One Football Tournament continued. In the second match of the evening, defending champions Northern United All Stars, took on the champions of Marchand Big Players.

In this match up, Eden Charles got on the score sheet in the 8th minute, thanks to a comedy of eras by the players from the capital of Castries. Big players would then find themselves two goals down before the half time whistle, as  Randolph Piltier found the back of the net in the 44th minute.

The second half presented more of the same for the champions. The guys from Gros-Islet passed the ball around effectively, and controlled proceedings on their home grounds. Eden “Eve” Charles would complete his brace, as he found the back of the net again in the 59th minute. Northern United could have gone 4-nil up, but a penalty shout went unheeded by the referee, and a goal was cancelled out and adjudged off side after what seemed like a long delay. Big players would then get on the score sheet, as prolific striker Lincoln Phillip found the back of the net via the penalty spot in the 84th minute. In the end, Northern United went on to defeat Big Players 3-1.

Earlier, in the first game of the night, Ti Roucher FC and VSADC played in a four goal thriller. In this encounter, VSADC drew first blood, as Alvin William Found the back of the net in the 4th minute. The team from the southern district of Micoud would fight back, as they found the back of the net in the 13th minute. Shadrick Flavius found the equalizer for Ti Roucher.


Later on, talented Central Castries striker Shaquille “Buju” Degazon would put VSADC back in front. Degazon’s goal came in the 45th minute. Yet, in true fighting spirit, the team from down south would draw level again as Michael Descarte’s found the back of the net in the 55th minute. From then on it was all Ti Roucher FC. The determined team played some aggressive, yet attractive football as they penetrated  the VSADC defense. Despite this, no more goals were scored as the game ended in a two-all stalemate.

At the Anse-La-Raye Playing Field, Alleze and RV Juniors also played to a 2-all draw.
