Team Saint Lucia was crowned champions Sunday night, in the Male Under – 23 ECVA championship held in Antigua. The team took on the home team, Antigua and won in front of an unforgiving crowd in a 5 set thriller.
The 758 Under-23 Male Volleyball Team were welcomed home on Monday evening at the George FL Charles Airport by President of the Volleyball Association, Brian Louisy, PS in the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, Dr Anthony George, Olympic 2016 Sailor, Stephanie Devaux-Lovell and Scott’s Sports shop among others.
Awards after the encounter went to, Best blocker Tevin St Jean, Best Spiker Bebeto Ferdinand and tournament MVP went to Augustin Faulkner, All of Team 758. Members of Team 758 also received athletes kits containing National t-shirts and bags.
Captain of the Team, Darnell Eudoxie says “This tournament by far has been the toughest tournament I’ve played for as a saint Lucian volley-baller but with the help of my team mates who I consider right now my family, because of all the hard work we put into it,we did it and I would like to thank all of them.”
Team 758 lost the first set to Antigua. In the fifth set the team went down 10-13 and made a striking come back of 10-15, claiming victory by two points.
