Self Defense for Our Women

Well, the world celebrated world women’s day, on Tuesday March 8th, 2016. Perhaps the biggest fear  men have regarding the important women in their lives, is their overall safety. The Shotokhan Karate International Federation held a free self defense class on Saturday March 5th, 2016, in observance of women’s day. St. Lucia Sports Online spoke to Deborah Jn Baptiste who said ” the class is being held in celebration of Women’s Day as a means of providing them with basic self defense skills they can use to protect themselves in case of emergency.”  Held under the theme “say no to crime and violence against women,” the activity sought to reach a wide cross section of the community. Elma-Gene Isaac who has been trained in the area of self defence believes that all should get involved in such a field. She explained that there are a number of everyday items in the household that both men and women can use to defend themselves. The one day event was held on Saturday March 5th, 2016 at a building in Corinth.

  1. Very interesting, I think this class/session should be done more often, there are many young women out there who go through so much in life, an because of unbearable frustration they take matters into their own hands. If this self defense classes are open as often ,I think it’ll be a great opportunity for women to learn something new.

  2. Very good we need this in St lucia
