John Eugene continued his rich vein of form on Saturday February 5th, 2016 when scored yet another half century in the Masters Cricket Festival. In a match played at the La Ressource Playing Field and reduced to 15 overs per side, New Park won the toss and inserted Islanders on a slow wicket with variable bounce.
Islanders made a cautious start and lost an early wicket in the process. However they picked up the pace to post a total of 146 for 6 in 15 overs. Good scores came from R. Ali 36, H. Louis 49 and F. Gustave 37. Bowling for New Park J. Eugene took 2 for 24 from 3 overs.
When New Park started their innings conditions had not changed much but their openers, Eugene and H. Paul made a brisk start. They continued to score quickly as the opening bowlers for Islanders took some time to hit their line and length. Eugene batted freely, hitting boundaries almost at will. New Park raced to 75 without loss after 9 overs. When Eugene was eventually dismissed on 94, new Park were 126 for 3. Islanders suddenly found faith again and brought a quick end to the New Park inning at 135 for 5 in 15 overs. H. Fraser took 3 for 14 in 2 overs.
